Why we love destination weddings and why you will too!
Two VOWS planners elected to have destination weddings and we’re not the only ones! More and more couples are choosing to get married outside their usual stomping grounds. While these types of weddings, such as Karlie & Matt’s Destination Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, do require some added logistical consideration – they have some unparalleled benefits also. Here are a few: Maui wedding planner
Reign in your guest count. Destination weddings inherently narrow the guest count. Traveling to your wedding requires more effort, time and cost of your guests. Therefore, those fringe guests, the ones you haven’t seen in years, but feel obligated to invite, are less likely to reply ‘yes’. What remains is the core group of close family and friends you really want at your wedding. Maui wedding planner
Spending more time with your nearest and dearest. Whether a nearby destination or somewhere exotic, most guests will make a vacation out of your wedding. With guests in town a few days before and after the main event, that’s all the more time to spend with your loved ones creating memories and celebrating with you. VOWS Helpful Hint: Don’t forget to plan a group activity or two. A Welcome Dinner the night before or a Farewell Breakfast the morning after make great additions to the itinerary.
You and your guests will be present. I’ve found that nothing beats the energy at a destination wedding. The bride, groom and their guests are in vacation mode…no one is leaving the reception early to get home to a babysitter or checking their work Blackberry. Destination weddings bring out the best in your guests and lay the foundation for a night of incredible memories.
There is nothing we’d love more than to help you pull together an unforgettable Maui Destination Wedding. VOWS specializes in taking your big day, far away! Maui wedding

As a Maui wedding planner, I more than understand the leap of faith needed to plan a wedding from afar. Having a Maui destination wedding is a true blessing for those looking to get away from the realities of their backyard. It’s a freeing and exciting experience, but can also be stressful when you realize you can’t control every detail. That’s where a good wedding planner comes in. Maui wedding planner
Sending photos, reviews and reassurances is my first step in instilling a couples’ confidence in a destination wedding. A trip to Maui prior to wedding week is ideal if budget and time allow, but not mandatory. Instead, I encourage couples to talk to others that have had a Maui destination wedding. I connect current and former clients. I offer flexible wedding packages that give couples options on how they would like to work together. Some like to hand over the reins to me while others want to lead the charge with my support. Full planning is most popular and encouraged. Having someone with experience, relationships, and expertise holding your hand along the way is priceless. (See more about my experience and approach at Why VOWS .) A wedding planner is truly an investment in your engagement as well as your wedding day. You want this time together to be fun and stress free. Maui wedding planner
Another way I help make my clients feel confident in their Maui destination wedding decision is to focus on (and get excited about) their top priorities. I make it my mission to get them beyond right. As a Maui wedding planner, I’m used to driving the island in search of the right venue fit for my clients. I take photos, video, taste and touch on my couples’ behalf. My goal is to make sure I have exceeded my clients’ expectations when they step off the plane. Maui wedding planner
Enter the beautiful Karlie & Matt, foodies and cocktail connoisseurs from Seattle. We talked through these top priorities and also their vision for a playful and fun party. You learn a lot about people when you plan their most intimate celebration. Karlie & Matt are huge Elvis fans; our table names were titles of Elvis songs. They are also accomplished ballroom dancers; beautiful choreographed dances wowed and moved guests. And finally, the groom has a fondness for sewing. I had the first ring bearer pillow in VOWS history that was designed by the groom! Maui wedding planner
For seven months I collaborated with this smart, creative and ambitious couple to plan their Maui destination wedding. We talked mostly over phone and email to create their dream wedding in paradise. In the end, like any couple, they just wanted to enjoy their wedding day and focus on their love. The photos and Karlie’s words below speak volumes. Mission accomplished! Maui wedding planner
