Catholic Tradition & Blushing Romance in Paradise

Catholic Tradition & Blushing Romance in Paradise

Congratulations to the darling Cristina and Peter from Seattle who wed with the help of VOWS Maui this February at Maria Lanakila Parish and Punakea Palms! It was a sweet and intimate Catholic ceremony with Filipino traditions to start in Lahaina Town then up the hill to the Launiopoko neighborhood of Maui for an elegant and fun reception. Guests were wow’d by the sweeping ocean views and the big smiles on our clients’ faces. Many Mahalos to our hardworking and creative vendor partners: Jana Dillon Photography, Café O’Lei Catering, Aloha Bars, Maui DJ Services, Bella Bloom, Cake Fanatics, Miss B Calligraphy, Hawaiian Style Event Rentals, Mei’Li Autumn Beauty, Catered Coconut, Creative Coverings, Pacific Portables, and Travel Plaza...

Maui Wedding Venues – The Hui

Private Wedding Venue in Upcountry Maui Brings History and Artistic Charm to Island Weddings If you’re researching endless listings of Maui wedding venues you’ve come to the right blog. VOWS Wedding & Event Planning loves what locals call: “The Hui”. Steeped in Hawaiian history, natural and man-made artistry and elegance, a vast private property with views and endless photo opportunities, a venue with capacity for any size wedding you dream, all located in a temperate location on the island no matter the season, you have found it in The Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center. Maui wedding planner Settled just below Makawao Town and in site of extraordinary views of the West Maui Mountains and Maui’s North Shore, the spacious Mediterranean-style home wows upon your approach. It was designed in 1917 by famous Honolulu architect, C.W. Dickey, for Harry Baldwin and his wife Ethel, founder of Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center. The Hui has been a gathering place for some of the greatest artistic minds contributing to Maui arts and culture. The Baldwin’s daughter even married on the property, so it was meant to be. Maui wedding The great thing about The Hui being a recent addition to our Maui wedding venues list is their flexibility for any shape, size or personality celebration. Each is custom to you (which aligns with our planning philosophy); no cookie cutting must do’s and don’ts. You bring in your own catering and bartenders; giving you maximum control on taste and spend. There is ample parking – no shuttles or valet needed which is a luxury on Maui. The Hui is open to the public until 4pm, but wedding set-up and photos can start anytime and you have access to the quaint guest cottage for getting ready as early as you’d like. Destination Weddings

Why we love destination weddings and why you will too! Two VOWS planners elected to have destination weddings and we’re not the only ones!  More and more couples are choosing to get married outside their usual stomping grounds.  While these types of weddings, such as Karlie & Matt’s Destination Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, do require some added logistical consideration – they have some unparalleled benefits also.  Here are a few: Maui wedding planner Reign in your guest count.  Destination weddings inherently narrow the guest count. Traveling to your wedding requires more effort, time and cost of your guests. Therefore, those fringe guests, the ones you haven’t seen in years, but feel obligated to invite, are less likely to reply ‘yes’.  What remains is the core group of close family and friends you really want at your wedding. Maui wedding planner Spending more time with your nearest and dearest.  Whether a nearby destination or somewhere exotic, most guests will make a vacation out of your wedding. With guests in town a few days before and after the main event, that’s all the more time to spend with your loved ones creating memories and celebrating with you.  VOWS Helpful Hint:  Don’t forget to plan a group activity or two.  A Welcome Dinner the night before or a Farewell Breakfast the morning after make great additions to the itinerary. You and your guests will be present.   I’ve found that nothing beats the energy at a destination wedding.  The bride, groom and their guests are in vacation mode…no one is leaving the reception early to get home to a babysitter or checking their work Blackberry.  Destination...
